Turkey Bolognese

Looking for a Paleo dinner recipe? Here’s a super easy swap for pasta…spaghetti squash! Spaghetti squash is much less calorie dense than regular pasta and equally as filling. Try it out!

Makes 4 servings

Paleo Turkey Bolognese

-2 tsp. olive oil

-1 small shallot

-2 chopped carrots

-1/2 tsp. minced garlic

-1lb lean ground white turkey

-1 28oz can crushed tomatoes

-black pepper

-1 large spaghetti squash

Preheat an oven to 400 degrees.

While cooking the Bolognese sauce bake the spaghetti squash for around 45 minutes, depending on size at 400 degrees. Be sure to slice the squash in half lengthwise, remove the seeds, and bake facedown on a baking sheet.

In a skillet heat oil over medium heat.

Add in shallot and carrots and cook until tender.

Add in minced garlic and ground turkey and cook until the turkey is no longer pink.

Add in crushed tomatoes, black pepper, and basil.

Let the sauce simmer for at least 15 minutes.

Serve over spaghetti squash.

Love this recipe! Do you post nutrition facts per serving? Is watching your calorie count irrelevant in the paleo world?

Thank you!!!! I usually only post them for things I bake (muffins, cookies, etc…). If it is a recipe with just meat and veggies I usually don’t track calories! Most people on Paleo don’t worry about calories which is something I love about it! You know you’re fueling with healthy foods no matter what so calories don’t have to be as much of a concern! I still measure out my fats though (nuts, oils, seeds, etc…) just because it can be easy to overdo it on them!
