Very rarely do I actually make something sweet that I just can’t wait to try. I try to keep things pretty healthy and know that I just don’t feel my best when I load up on sweets and sugar. This recipe was an exception. My favorite thing ever is chocolate peanut butter and these brownies are your Paleo version of chocolate and peanut butter. I swapped the peanut butter for cashew butter and believe it or not cocoa is technically “paleo”. The only questionable ingredient in here is honey and really if you’re going to have a sweet honey is one of the better options.
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup almond flour
- 1/4 tsp. sea salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup cashew butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 mashed banana
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2-4 tbs. cashew butter
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a bowl combine your cocoa, almond flour, sea salt and baking powder.
- Using a hand mixer add in a ripe mashed banana, honey, 1/4 cup cashew butter and eggs.
- Lastly mix in your vanilla.
- Once blended pour into a greased 8X8 baking pan.
- Drop your remaining cashew butter by the teaspoon on top of your batter. Use a knife to swirl into the batter.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes.
What’s your favorite combination with chocolate???

Oh YUMM!! These look absolutely delish, I think I wouldn’t be able to enjoy them in moderation
I love chocolate and banana. My favorite dessert.
What if you made them and froze some for later! You would love them!
Perfect idea!!
Cashews are actually hit or miss for me. But when they are in something baked, I usually like it. When eaten alone, they have to be raw cashews. For some reason, roasted cashews are definitely not my favorite nut. Great recipe idea, Danielle!
Thanks Michelle
I have been in the mood for brownies! I told my mom to make some yesterday but she declined! I’m pinning these and picking up the ingredients I don’t have at the grocery store! Thanks! (:
Perfect! I hope you enjoy them!
I love the swirl in these! My favorite chocoalte combo is chocolate and PB… I would totally ice these with peanut butter fluff.
Um that would be amazing!!
These are definitely being made SOON (except with soy nut butter instead of cashew butter)! They look incredible! My favourite flavours to pair with chocolate are mint, caramel, banana and soy nut butter.
Hope you enjoy! I love chocolate and peanut butter!
you had me at cashew butter!
Hahaha! Enjoy!
Holy cow, these look amazing! Normally my go-to combination with chocolate is peanut butter, but I love the idea of using a different nut butter, like cashew or almond. Awesome recipe!
Thanks so much Hannah! Glad you like them.
Oooo these look so fudgy and delicious! Really, I don’t think you can ever go wrong with chocolate, but some of my favorite combinations are with banana, almond butter, mint, cherry, and orange.
Agreed. Chocolate and anything just had to be good!
i love chocolate with strawberries and vanilla greek yogurt
…and also chocolate with wine ♥ *sigh*
I’ve never tried that Greek yogurt combination. Sounds amazing!
Peanut butter, definitely!
Great looking recipe! Yummmers
Thanks Kierston!
oh yummy! I think I need to make these, with peanut butter when I get home. I have yet to try cashew butter but I am sure I would like it!
You would definitely like it but these would be amazing with peanut butter too!

Drooling. These look amazing and so chocolate-y. Favorite combo? Oh man, that’s a tough one. I mean I love coconut and chocolate, peppermint and chocolate, pumpkin and chocolate, basically anything plus chocolate is a win;)
Thanks Lisa!
holy smokes…. I want these now! I might have to try making a peanut butter version of these. do you think whole wheat flour would work instead of almond flour? I’ve never used/bought it!
Yes it definitely would work I bet. Hope you like them!
I’m out of honey! Nooooo! Looks amazing. Love that you can see the cashew butter in it!
You better go get some
Glad you like them!
Pinned in a heartbeat! Grand idea!
Thanks so much Ericka!
Danielle!!! These look amazing! Just pinned them, so there’s no way I’ll forget to make them. Now I just need to buy cashew butter!
All-time favorite chocolate combination: peanut butter, OF COURSE.
I don’t think that will ever change! <3
Couldn’t agree more! Chocolate and peanut butter is the best!
Looks like someone is getting ready for Valentine’s Day a little early
I HATE chocolate but… if it’s paired with MINT or PEANUT BUTTER – it’s the most scrumptious treat in the world, lol!
I love chocolate and peanut butter together. Best combination ever
These look delicious! I am HUGE chocolate and peanut butter fan, too, so not having peanut butter while on our Paleo challenge has been hard for me! I am going to make these soon!
Try sunflower butter. It was my favorite swap for peanut butter when I first made the switch!
Danielle, it’s like you read my mind. I was JUST looking for recipes involving almond four
Thank you my dear!
