Marvelous in my Monday!

by danielle on December 10, 2012

Happy Monday! Celebrating Marvelous in My Monday thanks to Katie! Today I have Link Love to share, recipes from last week, groceries, and meal prep. It was a busy week last week and I’m ready to kick off another one…

Lot’s of marvelous to celebrate from last week especially in response to my very first personal post that was blogged last week. It was so great to read every one of your kind comments and I really appreciated the positive feedback more than you may know. I’ve been busy working on a lot of exciting changes for the blog and can’t wait to share them all with you in the new year. Look for a brand new design and a lot more personal posts to come!

I also had professional pictures taken for the blog on Friday! Pictures definitely freak me out a bit, probably why you don’t see too many of them on here but I sucked it up and had them done and am looking forward to sharing the results with you. Anyone else not a huge fan of picture taking? Please tell me I’m not alone…

I also got to spend a lot of marvelous time with this face:

Unfortunately though it was not for a good reason. Sophie had a very safe and typical surgery last Wednesday so I’ve been spending lots of time helping her recover. She is getting back to her normal self bit by bit and I think we are both anxious to get this cone off of her head this Saturday! Counting down the days. Poor buddy keeps bumping into things with the cone and has been a lot more sleepy and clingy than usual.

I did manage to sneak out for a bit to stock up on groceries for the week. Sophie hung out and napped while I cooked and prepped for the week and got to experiment with a couple new recipes.

Here’s my grocery haul:

Here we have cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, diet hansen’s, goat’s milk cheese, apples, bell peppers, kind bars, gummy multivitamins (yes I am five years old!), unsweetened almond breeze, gluten free puffins, organic zucchini and yellow squash, ground turkey, and eggs.

Spicy chicken and veggies, turkey meatloaf, potatoes waiting to be roasted, and unpictured roasted vegetables in the oven.

Now onto some links to share. First off here are last week’s recipes in case you missed them. They’re all Paleo!

I hate having my picture taken too! Last week I had to get my grad photos done and I just felt so awkward the whole time. :P

Aww poor Sophie! I hope she’s doing better.

Awww, poor buddy indeed. I always hated to make my dog a cone head. That’s the thing about furry ones though – they always forgive you. haha

Ooo I can’t wait to see what you have planned for the blog! I’m not really a big fan of taking personal pictures either, but at the same time I love looking back on old pictures so I think I’m definitely going to have to suck it up and just start taking more.

Reply

danielle December 10, 2012 at 5:44 pm

Glad you agree. It is nice to have them though. You are totally right :)

Lisa December 10, 2012 at 4:20 pm

I used to absolutely hate, hate, hate taking pictures. I was also very self conscious. But, surprisingly sharing pictures on my blog and just taking more in general have made me more confident in sharing them. Weird how that works ha ha. I’m excited to see your pictures, since I love when you show your beautiful face on here! Awe, Sophie. Even with the cone she still looks cute.

Reply

danielle December 10, 2012 at 5:44 pm

Good to know so maybe I’ll get just a little more comfortable with them! I agree she’s still a cutie with the cone head :)

Caitlin December 10, 2012 at 6:24 pm

I’m excited to hear that you are practicing getting used to taking pictures :) I remember meeting you at HLS and being so excited to finally see what you looked like, bahaha. You are freaking adorable so don’t worry! I have always been a photo ham but I know plenty of others who weren’t and then through their blogs came to embrace the fun that comes with photos!

Reply

danielle December 10, 2012 at 6:28 pm

Thanks for the vote of confidence! Can’t wait to get more comfortable with it :)

Sloane December 10, 2012 at 6:35 pm

Aww, seeing puppies in the cone is hilarious and sad all at the same time! Looks like you had a fabulous haul from Trader Joe’s! I went this weekend too! So awesome :) I always love your link love as well! Happy Monday!

Thanks so much Sloane! I agree with you about Sophie. I feel so bad for her but when she bumps into something with her cone it’s just too hard to laugh a bit ;) Poor thing!

Mmm, so many tasty links! Turkey meatloaf and potatoes sound perfect with the cooler weather rolling in [although it's been unseasonably warm here in DC lately- no complaints!]… Our pup had a cone after a routine surgery a few months ago and we definitely felt bad and couldn’t wait till it came off but we also couldn’t help but giggle when he’d bump into things :P

Reply

danielle December 11, 2012 at 3:23 pm

Hahaha sophie’s been doing the same thing! She bumps into everything!

Thank you again so much for including me in your link up!!!! How do you like that sliced goats cheese? I love soft goats but wasn’t a fan of the goats mozz. I wonder how similar that tastes?

Reply

danielle December 12, 2012 at 7:37 pm

I actually really love the sliced one! It’s the only kind of cheese I have and it’s my favorite!
